Hi, Brian!

If you show up this Thursday (I just posted about the meeting), we'll have former Microsoft Developer Evangelist Russ Fustino and a wealth of opinions that you could get in response to those types of questions.

Hope to see you there!

I'm trying to transition to the .NET platform after a successful 25 year career on the mainframe side of IT. I took some C# courses and read umpteen books. What I need now is a mentor who can answer questions like "Should I pursue Microsoft certification?" Any guidance would be sincerely appreciated.

Hi John,
Is your group still meeting? I'm the president of Central Penn .NET Users Group, in Harrisburg, PA. I will be moving to Cape Coral within the next two years and I thought I would see what's happening in the area.

I wanted to introduce myself as your contact from GrapeCity! If you do not know, GrapeCity purchased DataDynamics (developers of ActiveReports) over a year ago and FarPoint Technologies (developers of Spread) in October 2009. As a combined company one of our goals is to be as supportive as possible to .NET User Groups all over the world. I would greatly appreciate it if you would let me know a little about your group, your meeting schedule and different events you are planning this year. Most importantly, please also let me know what we can do to support you! I look forward to the opportunity to get to know you and your group better and wish you the best of luck!

Sincerely,
Veronica (Ronnie) Dempsey

My name is Tanya Carbaugh with LearnVisualStudio.NET and I am contacting you about potential sponsorship opportunities with SWFLDEV.

Over the past several years we've sponsored other user groups by providing free memberships they could give away at their meetings, code camps or special events. We've typically offered a series of free 1 Month Memberships to LearnVisualStudio.NET to be awarded to meeting attendees. In return, the user groups have included a link to us on their site. We've had a lot of great feedback from user group leaders about the enthusiast response from their members as these free memberships have been very well received. We are now trying to reach out to other user groups such as yours to see if you or your members would be interested.

Our tutorials are primarily geared towards the beginner developer trying to learn anything related to .NET. We cover everything related to getting started with ASP.NET, VB.NET and C# and we also dive deeper to provide plenty of material for the experienced developers as well. We've been creating video tutorials specifically for .NET since 2002 and we're one of the first such site of its kind. We've also worked closely with Microsoft and have created videos specifically for them that can be found in the Microsoft Beginner Developer Learning Center and on ASP.NET. We're positive that your members could benefit from our tutorials and we would love to be able to provide this service to your group.

Please let me know if you are interested in having us provide free memberships for SWFLDEV or if you have any additional questions. I can be reached at tanya@learnvisualstudio.net.

Thank you and I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

Tanya Carbaugh
